House Spouse Privacy Policy
House Spouse is operated by Crusoe Says LLC ("we," "us," or "our"), based in Pittsboro, North Carolina.
This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and how you can control your data when you use the app and related services. By using House Spouse, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy. We encourage you to read it carefully. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the app.
Please also review our Terms of Service.
1. Information We Collect
- •Account Information: Email address, name, and profile photo (provided via Google or Apple sign-in, or uploaded by you)
- •Home Profile Data: Home type, age, region, and construction details such as siding, heating system, roof, foundation, and home features including basement, garage, pool, septic system, irrigation, sump pump, smart home devices, and furnace humidifier. We also store your maintenance intensity preference (how many tasks you want to see)
- •User Content: Tasks, notes, receipts, valuables, warranty records, contractor contacts, maintenance history, and priority settings you create within the app
- •Files & Media: Photos, documents, scanned receipts, and audio recordings you upload or capture
- •Chat & AI Interactions: Messages you send to our AI assistant, attached images or documents, and conversation history. You can configure how long AI memories are retained
- •Usage & Analytics Data: We use PostHog to collect product analytics including feature usage events (e.g., tasks completed, screens viewed, chat usage), error reports, and session recordings that capture how you interact with the app. We also collect rate-limiting metrics to prevent abuse
- •Task Generation Logs: When your maintenance task list is generated or refreshed, we log a summary of the event including a one-way hash of your home profile (not the raw details), your region, home type, how many tasks were created or preserved, and whether the process succeeded. These logs help us diagnose issues and are automatically deleted after 90 days
- •Device Information: Platform type (iOS/Web), a locally-generated device fingerprint hash used for on-device encryption (this is not an advertising identifier), and your IP address which is logged temporarily for rate limiting and automatically deleted after 31 days
- •Purchase Information: Your subscription status is managed through Apple's In-App Purchase system. We store your subscription tier (free or premium) but never receive or store your payment card details
2. How We Use Your Information
- •Core Services: Provide home maintenance tracking, task management, and reminder notifications
- •AI Assistance: Power our AI chat feature with context from your tasks, notes, home details, and receipts via third-party AI services
- •Personalization: Customize maintenance schedules and seasonal recommendations based on your home type, age, and geographic region
- •Analytics: Understand how features are used so we can improve the app experience. Session recordings help us identify usability issues
- •Subscription Management: Process and manage your subscription through Superwall and Apple In-App Purchases
- •Communication: Send maintenance reminders, system notifications, and transactional emails such as support confirmations
- •Security & Abuse Prevention: Rate limiting to prevent spam and unauthorized access
- •Support: Respond to your questions and troubleshoot issues
- •Legal Compliance: Meet legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service
3. Third-Party Services & Data Sharing
- •Supabase: Hosts our database, authentication system, file storage, and server-side functions. All user data is stored on Supabase infrastructure with row-level security policies that ensure you can only access your own data
- •PostHog: Receives your user ID, email address, home characteristics (type, region, age, ownership), feature usage events, error reports, and session recordings for product analytics and session replay. PostHog is hosted in the United States
- •OpenRouter / AI Providers: When you use our AI assistant, the following is sent to OpenRouter for processing: (a) your chat messages and any attached images or documents; (b) your home profile — including home type, region, age, HVAC, water, sewer, water heater, roof, siding, foundation, garage, fireplace, and equipment flags such as pool, basement, sump pump, and water softener; (c) recent and upcoming tasks (names, due dates, status); (d) past task completion history (task name, tag, and completion date) when the assistant looks up "when did I last…?" type questions; (e) note titles and content; (f) receipt details (vendor, amount, category); and (g) AI memories you have allowed the assistant to retain. AI models include Meta Llama and Google Gemini. This data leaves your device and is processed on external servers
- •Superwall: Receives your user ID, subscription status, and paywall interaction events to manage subscription paywalls and in-app purchase flows
- •Loops.so: Receives your email address, name, and support message content to send transactional emails such as support confirmations
- •Apple Push Notification service (APNs): Receives your device push token to deliver task reminders and maintenance alerts
- •Google / Apple OAuth: When you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your email address, name, and profile information from the respective provider
- •Content Moderation: Chat messages may be analyzed for policy compliance. If a message is flagged, a brief excerpt (up to 100 characters) may be logged for review
We do not sell your personal information to third parties or advertisers.
Service providers access data only as necessary to operate the app.
Third-party providers have their own privacy policies. We encourage you to review them: OpenRouter, PostHog, Supabase.
We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect our rights and safety.
4. AI-Specific Disclosures
- •Acknowledgment of AI Data Sharing: By using the AI assistant, you acknowledge and agree that the data described below will be sent to third-party AI providers for processing. This data sharing is required for the AI assistant to function. All other app features — tasks, notes, receipts, warranties, home details, calendar, export, and reminders — continue to work fully without using the AI assistant
- •What data is sent: When you use the AI assistant, the following is sent to AI providers through OpenRouter: (a) your chat message and any attached images or documents; (b) your home profile — including home type, region, age, HVAC, water, sewer, water heater, roof, siding, foundation, garage, fireplace, and equipment flags such as pool, basement, sump pump, and water softener; (c) recent and upcoming tasks (names, due dates, status); (d) past task completion history (task name, tag, and completion date) when the assistant looks up "when did I last…?" type questions; (e) note titles and content; (f) receipt details (vendor, amount, category); and (g) AI memories you have allowed the assistant to retain
- •AI Memory: Our AI can remember preferences and home information you share in conversation. You control how long these memories are kept — options include current session only, 24 hours, 7 days, or indefinitely. You can clear all AI memories at any time in Chat Settings
- •Data retention by AI providers: We access AI models through OpenRouter's API. Per their API terms, your data is not used to train AI models. Each provider's data handling is governed by their own privacy policy
- •Rate limits: AI usage is rate-limited to 200 requests per day, 1,000 per week, and 3,000 per month per user to manage costs and prevent abuse
- •Voice transcription: For AI chat voice input, transcription happens on-device using your phone's built-in speech recognition; chat audio is never sent to external servers or AI providers. Voice notes saved in Spouse Notes are different — the audio file is uploaded to our secure Supabase Storage so you can play it back later, but is never sent to AI providers
5. Analytics & Session Recording
- •We use PostHog for product analytics and session recording to understand how people use House Spouse and to identify and fix usability issues
- •Session recordings capture your interactions with the app interface, such as taps, scrolls, and screen transitions. They do not capture keyboard input on password fields or payment information
- •Analytics events track actions like completing a task, viewing a screen, or using the AI chat. These events include metadata such as task category or message length but not the full content of your messages or notes
- •Your user ID and email are associated with analytics data so we can understand usage patterns across sessions
- •You can contact us at privacy@housespouse.app to request that session recording be disabled for your account
6. In-App Purchases & Subscriptions
- •House Spouse offers a premium subscription managed through Apple's In-App Purchase system
- •Superwall handles the presentation of subscription paywalls within the app. It receives your user ID and subscription status
- •All payment processing is handled by Apple. We never receive, process, or store your payment card details, billing address, or Apple ID password
- •We store your subscription tier (free or premium) and the date it was last updated in our database to determine which features you can access
- •You can restore previous purchases through the Restore Purchase option on the subscription screen. Subscription management (cancellation, renewal) is handled through your Apple ID account settings
7. Data Security & Protection
- •Encryption in Transit: All data transmitted between the app and our servers is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS
- •Encryption at Rest: Data stored in Supabase is encrypted at rest. Data cached on your device is encrypted using AES-256 with a key derived from your device fingerprint
- •Row-Level Security (RLS): Database policies ensure you can only access your own data — no user can see another user's information
- •Secure Authentication: We use the PKCE flow for mobile OAuth, token-based sessions with automatic refresh, and secure password hashing
- •Private Storage: Profile images, receipts, and documents are stored in private storage buckets with access controls. Signed URLs are generated on-demand for display
- •No Public Exposure: Your personal data is never publicly accessible without authentication
- •Regular Updates: We apply security patches and monitor for vulnerabilities
8. Data Retention & Deletion
- •Active Accounts: We retain your data as long as your account is active and you continue to use the app
- •Account Deletion: You can delete your account from Profile Settings. When you do, your account is deactivated immediately — you will not be able to log in or use the app
- •30-Day Grace Period: Your data is retained for 30 days after you delete your account, during which you can contact support@housespouse.app to restore your account and data. After 30 days, your account and database records are permanently and irreversibly deleted. Uploaded files and media stored with our hosting provider may be removed in a follow-up cleanup pass shortly afterward.
- •Immediate Permanent Deletion: If you prefer not to wait, you can request immediate permanent deletion by contacting support@housespouse.app
- •What Gets Deleted: Account information, home profile, tasks, notes, receipts, chat sessions, AI memories, device tokens, reminders, task generation logs, uploaded files (purged on a rolling basis), and all associated records
- •Automated Data Cleanup (Active Accounts): Chat sessions with no activity for 90 days are archived and deleted 90 days later. AI memories are deleted when they reach their configured expiration. Task generation logs are automatically deleted after 90 days. Rate limiting and moderation logs are automatically deleted after 1-30 days
- •AI Memory & Chat History: You can wipe all AI memories and chat transcripts at any time via Chat Settings, regardless of account status. The deletion is immediate and permanent
- •Infrastructure Backups: After permanent deletion, traces of data may briefly persist in automated infrastructure backups maintained by our hosting provider (Supabase), but these are not accessible to you or our team and are overwritten on a rolling schedule
9. Your Privacy Rights & Controls
- •Access Your Data: View all your information within the app at any time
- •Download Your Data: Export your tasks, notes, receipts, and files in CSV or PDF format from Settings
- •Edit Your Information: Update your profile, home details, and preferences in Settings
- •Delete Your Data: Remove individual tasks, notes, or receipts, or delete your entire account from Profile Settings

- •Wipe AI Memory & Chat History: Clear all AI memories and chat transcripts with one tap
